After Trump’s and Macron’s calls with Putin: Germany’s Merz offers Trump to buy weapons for Ukraine

Die Welt summarizes the recent phone calls between Trump, Putin, Merz and Macron.

Initially it was Macron who wanted to speak to Putin. The call had a 2 hours duration. It appears that Macron mainly spoke about ME and Iran issues. Macron unable to have a political impact in the ME addressed to Putin for cooperation. That’s a good sign. Isn’t it Macron who is the main cheerleader in the war in Ukraine, calling for all kinds of actions such as sending arms and troops to Ukraine, creating a no-fly zone over Ukraine, increasing sanctions against Russia and asking for the confiscation of Russian currency reserves? Macron may now turn away from that aggressive nonsense.

While Macron was reassured that also Putin does not want Iran to have nuclear weapons, Macron, without surprise, received Putin’s outspoken confirmation of Russian demands regarding Ukraine.

As such, Macron’s call to Putin was for nothing.

President Trump called President Putin, thereafter. The call had a duration of 1h. Besides some friendly words, the call was as well for nothing, in particular, regarding Ukraine and Trump expressed his dissatisfaction to the public.

After these calls, German Cancellor Merz wanted to speak to Trump and insisted calling him. Merz learned that the US has stopped to deliver arms to Ukraine and almost reacted hysterically. Merz finally got Trump on the line. When Merz was not able to move Trump to deliver further arms to Ukraine, Merz offered Trump that Germany will pay for the arms for Ukraine. The World does not yet know Trump’s answer to this business deal.

Nevertheless, for Germany it becomes delicate as Merz is preparing Germany to become the biggest sponsor of the war in Ukraine against Russia, replacing the US as main arms and money provider to Ukraine and assuming the role of former Nazi generations. Merz is facing more and more German opposition to his generosity for Ukraine. Germany is plagued by an advancing economic crisis and is living of debts which future tax payer have to reimburse. In this situation, Merz has hardly any approval from the voters for such generosity for Ukraine. And Russia is singling out Germany as target, not only as a weak target, but as the formerly defeated WWII Nazi criminal and as a country that never again shall raise its voices or arms against Russia. Germany’s role in the conflict in Ukraine, Germany’s tanks and arms sent again against Russia, are reasons enough for Russia to retaliate directly against Germany. The historic shame of Germany’s barbaric war and defeat against Russia in WWII, Germany’s responsibility for 30-60 million Russian deaths, should refrain today Germany from any action against Russia, in particular, in a conflict in Ukraine which is none of Germany’s business. It is a historic shame that Germany is again arming and instructing Ukrainian Hiwis (Nazis of Ukraine collaborating with Germany) to fight and kill Russians.
