UkrPravda reports: “Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala has announced that Czechia will not be taking part in a US-led initiative to purchase US weapons for Ukraine through NATO.”
Fiala said: “Czechia is focusing on other projects and ways of helping Ukraine.”
Indeed, the number of NATO states willing to help Ukraine via Donald Trump’s initiative, the US initiative of selling weapons to NATO states for forwarding them to Ukraine, is melting away.
Budgetary problems made already France and Italy opting out of Trump’s initiative. Many other NATO countries do not take part: Spain, Portugal, Greece, etc. With no news from Turkey, UK, Finland ..
So far, only northern European NATO members agreed to participate in Trump’s scheme: Germany, Denmark, Sweden … Germany might be forced to shoulder big financial expenses for and on behalf of NATO.
Within NATO, the disappointment is big that the US does not continue to send arms for free to Ukraine.
