AP: US aid cutoff poses new challenges to rights groups and independent media from Russia and Belarus

Donald Trump froze foreign aid, in particular, stopped the activities of USAID, with direct impact on opposition groups in Russia and Belarus. Most of these opposition groups are operating from exile but receive millions in aid from the US for activities in Russia and Belarus.

AP complains that these groups will not be able to operate, will dismiss staff or close.

In the view of a future good relationship between the US and Russia wouldn’t it be time reduce or eliminate each others meddling in internal matters … or elections?

The other question remains: did the financing of opposition groups in Russia and Belarus really made the West safer? Or was it just another failed attempt to destabilize a foreign regime with lots of money, provoking lots of distortions and adverse reactions which provoked much higher costs and losses in lives and livelihood, in Russia, Belarus and as well in the West?
