Starlink is a US satellite communication system which was founded by Elon Musk in 2015. It operates today 7’000 small satellites and allows for an almost worldwide coverage of high speed internet. Starlink requested licenses for 20’000 more satellites. It is revolutionary idea, a global communications company offering end-user services. There are a number of competitors to Starlink, not with such huge numbers of satellites. These competitors are mainly US or UK based. Starlink is an easy medium and also easily accessible for retail customers who do not want to pay high prices. It is impossible to interfere in or jam the connections and, therefore, Starlink has become an important communication tool for the Ukrainian army. But, of course, it is replaceable by competitors. The dispute which Elon Musk and Marco Rubio, the US Foreign Secretary, officially fought against the Polish Foreign Minister Sikorsky on X is not understandable. It is probably a public warning from the US that in all matters re. Ukraine, the US has the final say.
