Breaking: UN Security Council Votes in Favor of Russia, Not Condemning for Ukraine Invasion, as US and Russia Agree

The first resolution of the UN Security Council regarding Ukraine ever simply called the parties to stop the war rapidly, without blaming any party. Russia and the US agreed on the text, while the European war league represented in the Council (UK, France) abstained.
This is a blow to Project Ukraine, or to those who are still running it. Russia is free of responsibilities according to the UN Security Council resolution. The Council’s resolutions form part of the International Law, not so the resolutions of the General Assembly (where the Biden Administration reached to blame Russia). The UN and all scholars deny binding power to any resolution of the General Assembly which cannot be enforced.
Therefore, Russia “is off the hook” which has many implications:
1. No violation of international law, 2. No compensation, 3. No confiscation of Russia assets, 4. Review of sanctions if in contradiction to international law, 5. Easier Peace Settlement etc.
If any claim in the Ukraine matter may be brought against Russia, UN Security Council Resolution No 2774 (2025) may be successfully raised against it. An act of another state, transpassing International Law, such as the confiscation of Russian assets is outlawed and may bring sanctions under the UN Rules against the delinquent. In other words, there is no basis for confiscation or overreaching sanction under International Law.
Equally, the term “Attack against International Law” (Voelkerrechtswidriger Angriffskrieg) must be skipped now in light of Resolution 2774 (2025).

5 Abstentions, Security Council Adopts Resolution 2774 (2025) Mourning Loss of Life, as Russian Federation’s Invasion of Ukraine Enters Fourth Year

Members Implore Swift End to Conflict, Urge Lasting Peace between Two Nations

As the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine entered its fourth year, the Security Council today adopted a resolution mourning the tragic loss of life and reiterating that the principal purpose of the United Nations is to maintain international peace and security and peacefully settle disputes.

Adopting resolution 2774 (2025) (to be issued as document S/RES/2774(2025)) by a vote of 10 in favour to none against, with 5 abstentions (Denmark, France, Greece, Slovenia, United Kingdom), the Council implored a swift end to the conflict and urged a lasting peace between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

Before the vote, the representative of the United States said that the Council stands on “the precipice of history with a solemn task — creating conditions to end the bloodiest war on the European continent” since the organ was created in June 1945.  Noting that her country’s draft text is “a symbolic, simple first step towards peace”, she added that it “is not a peace deal”.  Rather, it represents a path to peace, and she urged all Council members to join the United States in vanquishing the scourge of this war.
