CNN: Ukraine minerals deal is largely symbolic – but that’s enough for Donald Trump

CNN makes some correct assumptions.

The Deal is not fully known, the technical part not yet signed and the Ukrainian Parliament has not yet ratified it.

The Deal does not contain any security guarantees. The Deal doesn’t provide for weapons deliveries, but for a possibility to pay for any weapons with future rights out of the Deal.

As such, the Deal remains irrelevant, in particular, as it has not yet been ratified by Kiev.

CNN is right, therefore, and also correctly, reports about the Deal’s history: it was suggested by V Selensky to his friendly proxy masters, the Biden Administration. Now, in front of a critical Donald Trump, Selensky played on time, first refused to sign, now has signed only the framework and not the details, and his Parliament, which he commands, has not yet ratified the Deal.

CNN reflects the overall hope and strategy to play on time, hoping that the Trump period is over in 4 years and that then everything will change, also for Ukraine. Nevertheless, this kind of strategy is just a gamble.

What CNN completely turns a blind eye to is the fact that doing business in Ukraine is not a straight thing and that contracts usually are not worth their paper.

But it is CNN’s sad continuation of Trump hating journalism trying to destroy with words all Trump’s achievements even futile as this Minerals Deal.
