CNN’s strange top Headline: ‘This isn’t Russia, never was, and never will be’

CNN’s Sunday top headline is remarkable. The content of the article is just normal propaganda: two unknown, anonymous individuals speak out, one underground fighter, one refugee. Impossible to know if they are real persons.

The message of the article: the Russian occupied territories have always been Ukrainian.

The message forgets that Ukraine exists since the early 1990. Before, the territory was part of the Russian Empire and thereafter of the Soviet Union. The Ukrainian Soviet Republic was designed by the Soviet leaders, without historic consideration, to form a viable subdivision of the Soviet Union, with enough land, industry and infrastructure, plus Crimea as a gift from General Secretary Khruchov.

The independent Ukraine exists since 1991 as a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union, now for 34 years.

After 1991, yes, Ukraine was briefly an independent and sovereign state. Since the Maidan putsch 2014, foreign powers took control. Its continued existence depends today entirely on NATO countries.
