Things in the Ukraine peace talks start moving again.
US Foreign Secretary Rubio and the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov met the day before in Kualalumpur and put a new plan into motion: the partition of Ukraine – into a Western aligned remainder of West-Ukraine and a Russian state territory in the East.
There seems to be no other solution.
Let’s remember the war’s causes in 2014. West-Ukrainian nationalists forced a regime change during the Maidan Putsch. The US, Germany, Poland and France were sponsoring the Putsch. The democratically elected President Yanukovich was forced to flee the capital and the country. A US arranged new government of West-Ukrainian nationalists was put in power and started to fight the Eastern Ukrainian rebels who were demanding autonomy and respect for being Russians (and not Western Ukrainians, Catholics, Ukrainian speaking). Following the Maidan Putsch, the latest European civil war of nationalities broke out, 20’000 Russians in East-Ukraine were killed in the period between 2014 to 2022. Russia and the Western Kiev backers were discussing a peaceful solution (Minsk agreements) for years, but it was revealed that the Western nations negotiated only to gain time to arm Kiev and to build Europe’s biggest army against Russia. NATO and the Obama/Biden Administration were sending weapons, missiles, instructors, biolabs and intelligence units into Ukraine for a huge war to begin soon. Russia acted first and intervened in Ukraine to change the Kiev regime but was unsuccessful till today as Kiev is supported by NATO to the fullest extent.
Nevertheless, Kiev’s army is retreating today and seemingly driving towards collapse. The US, as usually, does not want to throw good money after bad money considering Project Ukraine as failed. In addition, the US recognizes that the Ukrainian conflict is existential for Russia and that Russia would not hesitate to escalate and use nuclear deterrence to win the war against NATO. For this reason, no NATO country would send own troops into the fight against Russia, the Ukrainian soldiers are condemned to die alone if the war continues.
Project Ukraine was condemned to fail from the beginning, and rightfully President Trump is condemning it as Biden’s War that never should have happened. A false policy, a hateful ideology and, in particular, an internal dispute of the US elites (RussiaGate) brought war and destruction over Ukraine. How could Obama/Biden think of a regime change in Russia with the help of Ukraine, how could they think stupidly of breaking up Russia? How could they misuse, abuse and kill by millions the Ukrainian people in their craziness?
Russia is defending itself and its existence against NATO’s expansion. Even more, Russia is defending itself for its pure survival, against an overwhelming power which is NATO. And Russia is moving forward, is eliminating step by step the Ukrainian army while warning NATO of the most terrible consequences if NATO troops enter the conflict or if Ukraine will be directly supplied with weapons managed and controlled by NATO, such as the German Taurus.
The US and NATO identified and brilliantly used the historic conflict and disunion in Ukraine. Ukraine was never a nation, it was a multi-national state from the 1990s onwards with many different nationalities, the biggest was Russian-speaking. Poles, Hungarian, Romanians, Moldavians, Tartars etc are living on the Ukrainian territory. The state of Ukraine is an artificial construct of the post-soviet new arrangement of territories after the break-up of the Soviet Union. The history remembers the millions of West Ukrainians associated with Nazi-Germany, fighting on the sides of the Wehrmacht and SS against Russia. The Soviet Union took its revenge on the West Ukrainians after WWII, but allowed for a general forgiveness in the 1950s and allowed them to still settle in West-Ukraine. Since then, a continued dissent and hatred was felt and developing in West- Ukraine against all what is Russian. The end of the Soviet Union gave them the way to independence in the 1990s while taking over the old Russian lands, Crimea and the ancient Russian city of Kiev and, in particular, the Soviet industries in the Russian speaking Eastern Ukraine. Since the 1990s, Ukraine was an unstable country, depending on Russian energy and disliked by the West for its criminality, corruption. But this changed when Obama/Biden decided to make brilliantly use of the nationalities conflicts in Ukraine while, at the same time, vilifying Russia (RussiaGate).
The West staged the Coup in 2014 and pushed for conflict with Russia. Russia felt an existential threat and invaded Ukraine, protecting the Russians in Ukraine and making sure that Ukraine will not become a NATO member.
The new solution of a break up of Ukraine can be very handy. Reducing Rest-Ukraine to a small country, incapable of building up a threatening army, will be very helpful to assure peace, also in the direction of the West. Ukraine will be economically depending on European help. The Eastern, Russian Territories will become integral part of the Russian Federation. The remaining questions are about the exact border and about the city of Kiev. Finally, NATO and Russia shall agree on a system of control of peace and a build-up of trust, in particular, Russia may rightfully ask NATO not to provide Rest-Ukraine with aggressive attack weapons and other kinds of military support, to never again allow or make necessary a conflict in Ukraine.
Russia’s territory in Ukraine and a fully demilitarized zone without any presence of Ukrainian army or weapons shall extend along East of the Dnjepr, the huge river partitioning Ukraine from the North to the South. All lands West of Dnjepr shall be Rest-Ukraine, but without any NATO presence, without NATO arms and support. Kiev can become a free city, self-controlled, at the pleasure of its current mayor Klitschko who is in an internal war against Selensky’s oppresive central regime.
The result will be a three-paritioned Ukraine, a Western Rest-Ukraine, a Free City of Kiev and the lands belonging to the Russian Federation or which are demilitarized areas on the East banks of the Dnjepr.
Odessa, the city founded by Russia’s Empress Katharina the Great may still be subject of discussions.
This partition will bring peace and limit the hegemonic intents of NATO. It will allow Rest-Ukraine to economically integrate into Europe, but not militarily. It will finally bring peace to the large populations of Russians in East-Ukraine and Crimea, which are anyway ancient Russian territories. Kiev will become an international, free city and will be prospering independently from a corrupt and oppressing presidential regime, a hub for business, culture and freedom between East and West. Maybe, this could be Odessa’s future, as well.
So, what may be the concern of the EU against such a solution, which was eventually successful also on the Balkans, after NATO and Europe bombed the way into a similar territorial separation of conflicting Balkan nationalities – the Balkanization? Europe will now shoulder the reconstruction costs only of Rest-Ukraine, a further re-armament of Europe will become obsolete and Europe shall again happily buy Russian energy. Most Ukrainians will happily return to the territories of their home or of their nationality and Europe can be discharged of millions of refugees.
What was good for the Balkan, is even better for Ukraine.
