The press reports this morning bring confusion. President Trump reports of a ceasefire deal with Israel and Iran. But actions and declarations seem to contradict.
Also, there is a confusion about the time line of the ceasefire as Iran has attacked Israel in the last hour before the ceasefire was eventually in force.
Donald Trump was forced to send another Truth Social message insisting on ceasefire.
PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT.
The DailyMail reports: Fresh explosions hit Israel cities and countries across the Middle East this morning as the region waited for the ‘complete ceasefire’ that US President Trump said would come into effect today.
But Trump, in a following post on Truth Social writes: “THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT,” “PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES”
The Times of Israel writes : “Several injured in hit on residential building in southern city “Iranian FM denies agreeing to end of war but says that if Israel halts strikes, so will Tehran “No formal comment from Israel”
DailyMail reports further: “The ceasefire was set to kick in at 5am UK time today (12am NY time; 2pm Sydney time), giving both Israel and Iran just a few hours to wrap up military hostilities.
So far, the conflict doesn’t appear to be slowing down.
Residents in Tehran reported just after midnight UK time that intense explosions are being heard, with Israeli officials warning civilians to leave the centre of the city, which is home to Iran’s Central Bank and National Bank, along with some military and intelligence headquarters. There were also reports of explosions in the cities of Urmia and Rasht.
On top of this, video footage appeared to show a massive explosion at the Taji military base, which lies north of Iraq’s Baghdad, which has reportedly been hit by a drone strike. No group or nation has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. “
Iran’s foreign minister this morning saying on X: ‘As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations.’
