The EU recommended Signal as highly trustworthy and secure communication tool and asked the members of the EU administration and the European Parliament to use only Signal.
The advice was given in February 2020.
It is a fact that many governments and many institutions have, therefore, used Signal as internal communication tool.
So did the US Administration.
Only in February 2025 it became known that Signal was exposed to hack – by Russia. The hacking of Signal was possible and in the following thereafter could have been done by many other hackers. Russia banned Signal nationwide as Signal cooperated with Ukraine exchanging information.
