DieWelt: Germany to re-introduce Obligatory Military Service

Germany, already under the previous coalition with the Greens, was preparing to re-introduce the obligatory military service. This obligation was abolished some 25 years ago but now, with Russia as security threat at the door step, Germany considers it necessary to call all young man (and women and other genders?) to the arms.
Germany’s new possible coalition has just now agreed on a mega-debt facility to finance huge investments into its army. Also the EU has agreed to finance arms purchases of its members with a huge debt volume. But unfortunately, today’s German army has not enough personnel to operate so much new equipment. The solution: obligatory draft. The same will happen in other EU countries and probably in the UK: young men will be called to the arms by obligatory draft. The peaceful, harmonious years for young European men (and women etc.) are over – the army is calling.
