In view of Russia’s large scale attacks on Ukraine, mainly on Ukraine’s energy sector, President Trump has warned that the US will impose further sanctions and tariffs on Russia. Trump summons Ukraine and Russia to come to the negotiation table. The question is imamswered if Russia would be stopped in its military action by the threat of new sanctions. Indeed, Donald Trump wanted a quick peace, but the Ukrainian and Russian sides are difficult to bring to negotiations. Ukraine is trying to get help otherwise from Europe and Russia did not yet express any suggestion on how to reach a peace agreement, while having well started discussions with the US with contacts on various levels. A tricky situation for Donald Trump and his European allies do not make his efforts more easy.
