DailyMail reports: “The EU president, Ms Von der Leyen said ‘at the request of President Zelensky, I will join the meeting with President Trump and other European leaders in the White House tomorrow.’
Other European leaders confirming they will go tomorrow included Finnish president Alexander Stubb, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni and NATO secretary general Mark Rutte.
Mr Zelensky’s Oval Office rendezvous will follow Western allies holding a ‘coalition of the willing’ video call at 2pm today (Sunday) hosted by Sir Keir, Mr Macron and Mr Merz.
The show of unity by European leaders comes as Mr Trump appears poised to urge the Ukrainian leader to agree to a Russian land grab of his country’s territory.”
Invited or not, they all come with Selensky. Selensky requested them to join traveling to Washington.
What a historic farce. Selensky, the disputed leader of rest-Ukraine and of a retreating and soon collapsing Western run army, begs his sponsors to confront with him Donald Trump.
Many uninvited guests coming to the party, but Donald Trump may not be able to refuse them to join Selensky. Trump only invited Selensky. Now coming some Willing to hold Selensky’s hand and to make sure that the proxy guy “survives” another public meeting with Trump.
It’s a show of unity but also an open affront against the President of the US. The Europeans travel to Washington, uninvited and as surcharge baggage and Trump will be forced to receive them in the most friendly way.
For what? Trump’s decision is taken. The US is done with the Ukraine war business, nothing much more to expect from the US than pressure on Selensky to sign a peace agreement, finally. This final peace agreement is overdue since the 2022 Istanbul agreement, or the Minsk agreements. It is expected that Trump will push it through and that he reafirms: if you Europeans want to prolong the war, good luck. Without the US.
A major scandal between the US and Europe is ready to develop, in an already tense environment of new US tariffs and other ideological discussions. The current European leaders are not on the same line as Trump, are at their lowest of their ratings and popularity and would not survive an election if there was one now. Those European countries are also at the lowest level of economic development, of finance and investments, of freedom and have not much more weapons to send to Ukraine. If that Coalition of the Willing would like to confront the new Russian military might – good luck.
But they know it. The Europeans are aware of their weakness and impotence. The new effort to unite and to travel with Selensky to Washington is a part of the blame game for the future catastrophe in Ukraine. They make a show, they show how much they want to do to prevent the unpreventable collapse of Ukraine: which is a little company excursion to Washington but which will be greatly exploited in all propaganda against Donald Trump and will also allow to his European colleagues to wash their hands in innocence. It is the final act for Ukraine, nothing can be turned around, Europe can only beg the US to soften the consequences of Ukraine’s collapse.
Of course, Selensky and the Europeans will pressure, threaten Trump, even publicly. They will make a case that Europe is at risk. And they may be right: those Europeans that gambled with the Obama/Biden gangsters on Project Ukraine are afraid of the consequences of losing their gamble. After having lost hundreds of billions of Euros in that gamble, Europe faces much more consequences and costs from the unpreventable collapse of Ukraine.
And Selensky? He is just looking for his retirement place and pension … and probably hopes to settle in the US.
