European Leaders Want to Speak to Trump Before He Meets Putin

Bloomberg reports that “European nations are seeking to talk to Donald Trump ahead of the US president’s planned meeting in Alaska with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, according to people familiar with the matter”.

This request to meet before Friday’s Alaska meeting is not an official statement of any of the governments. It may be a leak about what’s going on behind the diplomatic curtain.

The Europeans are building up a strong presence in view of the upcoming Trump-Putin meeting. They demand that they shall be included in the negotiations and that, in particular, Kiev and V Selensky shall be parties to the settlement. They warn Trump that there will be no peace without Selensky.

Selensky, for his part, is opposing to all elements of a compromise solution, in particular, he refuses to cede territory and demands security guarantees from NATO. Selensky evidently does not want the war to stop (as he personally will lose all with peace) and tries by all means to introduce Europe and the US into a direct fight against Russia. Selensky himself is the biggest risk for the outbreak of nuclear WWIII, even though the US Administration is working hard to never get close to this risk.
