FT: EU debates return to Russian gas as part of Ukraine peace deal

Poland, UK and US are opposed to bring Russian gas back to Europe. Germany, Hungary, Slowakia, Austria and others are in favor of getting cheap Russian energy. For countries like Hungary its a survival question, for Germany an important matter for its industries.
But how could gas become a peace deal matter between the US and Russia? Urkaine and allies have done so much to stop the gas flowing: bombing Nordstream, trying it with Turkstream, stop the tranport through Ukraine etc. And dependence on Russian gas makes some of them afraid. Why? It is proven: partners in good business do not harm each others.
