The largest paper of Germany, BILD, is rebelling against Donald Trump’s deal to make Europe pay for US weapons and also deliver from own stocks some of the most priciest systems.
BILD knows that Germany has only 6 Patriot systems, after it sent already three systems to Ukraine. Two systems of the six remaining are in Poland to defend local airports. Three systems are currently under repair and one systems only used for training. So, Germany would need to send its only operational Patriot system to Ukraine .. and order new ones for a lot of money in the US. New systems have been ordered to be delivered in 2029.
And Ukraine has the first service even for current deliveries: Switzerland agreed to sending the Patriot system it should now receive to Ukraine, and steps back to wait longer.
Germany has been tricked by Trump, like all NATO countries and the war parties in Europe. Trump confronted the Europeans with their own refusal to pay for weapons for Ukraine, and with their unwillingness to send even one or two air defense systems to Ukraine.
Now, as the Europeans cannot agree and refuse to pay and deliver arms and Germany shouts foul, being angry about being tricked, is there finally a moment for peace with Russia?
