The ever Trump critical The Gardian reports about a statementson X made by Ayatollah Khamenei, the leader of Iran:
“The US regime entered the war directly because it felt that if it didn’t, the Zionist regime would be completely destroyed. It entered the war in an effort to save that regime but achieved nothing.
The Islamic Republic delivered a heavy slap to the US’s face. It attacked and inflicted damage on the Al-Udeid Air Base, which is one of the key US bases in the region.”
This statement is not yet supported by facts.
Somehow, Israel’s missile defense system showed some weakness after a week of war with Iran. But Iran was, in return, heavily hit by Israel, without a meaningful missile defense.
The US President Donald Trump ordered bombings at three locations: all connected to Iran’s nuclear industry and suspected to produce highly enriched, weapons grade uranium. Trump is of the opinion that Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities have been destroyed, whereas many other sources speak about only a setback. As well, it is unclear if Iran has evacuated the 400kg highly enriched uranium.
Now, the Ayatollah threatens peace again, threatening the US with attacks.
It seems that Iran is recovering from the last week’s attacks and has now assessed its capabilities and allied networks. Otherwise, the Ayatollah’s words must be considered as nonsense.
The US has envisaged a meeting between US and Iranian representatives. Hopefully, this will happen and will help to secure the current ceasefire.
