KievIndependent: ‘There is talk of Nord Stream’ — Lavrov eyes Russia-US energy cooperation

It seems to be true: The US and Russia are discussing the operation of Nord Stream 2 – The two gas pipelines were damaged in 2022 by what seems an Ukrainian bomb attack facilitated by some Western agencies.

In view of a normalization of the relations between the US and Russia, the Nord Stream pipelines can play an important role. As the discussions may be directed, the US is interested to own and control the pipeline as gas transport medium, maybe in partnership with Russia, whereas Russia is interested to sell gas. This can lead to a common geopolitical approach and to advantages in business and political cooperation for both superpowers.

While the mentioned person, the former CEO of Nord Stream, Matthias Warnig publicly denied his involvement, the Ukrainian news declare him as the motor of the project, him contacting the US Administration promoting the idea of the revival of Nord Stream.

There is a deadline in May, imposed by the Swiss Court, as Nord Stream is in a “chapter 11 state” and needs the approval of the Judge to find a solution to avoid bankruptcy.
