KievIndependent: Trump’s envoy Witkoff claims Ukraine will hold presidential elections … but when? And Wirtkoff is certain that Russia will not attack Europe. Why should they?

As Moscow considers President Volodymyr Zelensky “not elected” and, therefore, “can’t sign any kind of treaty.” Special Envoy Witkoff has confirmed that there will be Ukrainian presidential elections. But when?
Witkoff declared that he is completely certain that Russia is not attacking Europe. How can he be so sure? European leaders, first in line the UK PM and the French President claim that Russia is a threat and that the European continent must increase spending for the armies to counter Russia. Germany has seen an increase in military spending which has never occurred in such amount since the end of WWII. German call for arms is also based on the widely publicized Russian threat. Therefore, how can Witkoff be certain that Russia will not march West, even preemptively when feeling threatened?
While a balance of power in Europe is well necessary, as a deterrent for reciprocal aggression, the need for buffer zones is even bigger. Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia etc are natural buffer zones and are a security guarantee for Russia as it will not allow NATO, through bordering states, to implant and build up presence at its borders. The years of NATO eastward expansion, since the year 2000, have been viewed by Russia as a continuing encerclement. While it did not oppose to the NATO expansion into the Baltic and Balkan countries, Russia will not be able to accept Ukraine, Belarussia or Georgia to join NATO, in particular with Western forced coups.
