Le Monde: Russia rejects swapping occupied territory with Ukraine after Zelensky suggestion

Le Monde reports about the suggestion of V Selensky to swap Kursk territory (a small Russian area invaded and held by Ukrainian troops) with lands held by Russia.

This offer was refused by Russia, with the Russian side (unreported by Le Monde) offering to the Ukrainian occupants a swap for grave plots, 1m X 2m.

Russia is advancing slowly in the Kursk area which is held by Ukrainian troops. Ukraine continues to send soldiers and equipment into this small area but faces a continued Russian advance and elimination. Ukraine accuses Russia to employ North Korean troops for this fight as well.

Russia’s Kursk advance is very difficult as the Ukrainian occupied area is not evacuated and Russian citizens and Russian infrastructure would become collateral victims and damage in case of Russian bombardments. It is alledged that the Ukrainian army keeps the Russian population as a shield against the advancing Russian army – as the latest terrible case of the attack on a boarding school in Ukrainian occupied territory can demonstrate. Why was this boarding school not evacuated before? Why the Ukrainians did not arrange an evacuation of civilists in the face of the advancing Russian army?
