The leaders of France, UK and Germany traveled by train to Kiev, using Russia’s unilateral ceasfire for a quick visit and some showtime.
It is astonishing to see the leaders of countries which fought wars against Russia in the last 200 years to reunite in person in the old Russian metropole and to propose the next steps in the war against Russia.
It reminded the meeting of the German, French and Polish foreign ministers in Kiev at the start of the Maidan Putsch, 20.2.2014, when these ministers, backed by the US and EU inflicted high pressure and threats on the former Ukrainian President Yanukovitch to allow a regime change and an anti-Russian leadership in Ukraine.
When the killings in Kiev started and the West Ukrainian nationalists marched towards Kiev, Yanukovtch decided to flee to Eastern Ukraine and finally found refuge in Moscow. The Putsch was successful and an anti-Russian government was installed, in particular, with the help of Ms Nuland, the US actor on the ground.
Remembering Napoleon’s conquest, the Crimean War or WWI and WWII, it is again a situation where European leaders unite against Russia, yes of course, in a bit different combination, but the direction is pretty much the same. Kings, Emperors, Presidents, Chancellors or Priministers, the designation may change but the underlying direction is unchanged.
Russia, at least since 200 years, has been designated as threat for European interests and always was a target for eastward expansion. The French under Napoleon made a huge effort to conquere Russia, and failed. A coalition army of French, English, Turkish and others invaded Crimea, and inflicted to Russia heavy losses, with the result that Crimea became a solid Russian fortresses. In WWI and WWII, German armies, supported by Italians, Romanians and others entered Russia, which resulted in a crushing defeat. Why on Earth, today’s leaders reunite, in view of history, also knowing that Russia never posed a threat to Europe unless provoked or invaded. There were never territorial claims of Russia for Western European lands. The Russian/Soviet Empire extended in a maximum to Poland (when partitioned between Prussia, Austria and Russia) and included the Baltics. The post-WWII Warsaw Pact was formed after the liberation from German occupation with the help of the ill-fated ideology which was the Communism – Russia did a similar occupation as it was done by the Western allies over Europe. The Soviet Union failed and collapsed under Western economic pressure and administrative regions, such as Ukraine, declared independence – in the case of Ukraine, without respecting the national, religious and historic context and boundaries. Ukraine became an easy target for social unrest and regime change, supported by the fact that it was the most corrupt country with the most cleptocratic elite, easily to corrupt and pay to wage a war.
Considering the historic experience, but also the factual situation of today, it is easy to understand why the Russian leader Vladimir Putin is not really impressed. Russia has suffered during centuries against foreign powers that came too close. Mongols, Poles, Swedes, Tartar, French, English, Turkish and Germans – all came to Russia, for nothing but defeat. Since the Mongol experience, Russia was a Westward open nation, inviting and embracing all what was coming from the West. Russia abolished serfdom before the US abolished slavery. Russia opened its vast territories to European settlers, craftsmen and even soldiers. New ideas were welcome from the West, even Communism. After the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia adapted to the Western capitalist system and grew enormously, while providing all of Europe with cheap energy for their social welfare systems. The Europe-Russia coexistence was beneficial for both.
It is now time to end the confrontation, and to stop what is called “Biden’s War”. The few Western leaders still promoting the Obama/Biden Project Ukraine which is, in essence, the NATO eastward expansion, shall reconsider and offer a generous solution to Russia. Obama/Biden and their European followers played and lost their gamble. The loss is inflicted mainly on Ukraine, on its people, who suffered from the geopolitical policies and games of the Obama/Biden regime, promoting the failed Project Ukraine.
