LeParisien: Macron’s plan for peace in Ukraine

President Macron of France sees the following steps:
1. A ceasefire of one month.
2. Peace negotiation.
3. Deployment of French, UK ea. troops to Ukraine to secure the contact line and the ceasefire and the peace deal.
4. Full risk for France, UK ea. No word about the US involvement.
5. France needs to transform into a war economy rising military budgets.
6. Nuclear arms for all Europe. The nuclear deterrence shall not be only French/UK.
… A peace deal will be followed by French troops on the ground, taking the risk of a direct confrontation with Russia, without even considering a US involvement – a different approach than PM Starmer’s who insists on a strong US involvement.
It is not really clear what Macron wants to say by “nukes for all Europe”. A breach of the Non-proliferation obligation? Quel horreur.
Macron does not give any suggestion for the content of a peace deal (territorial questions, etc). As well, what does Macron assume will be the Russian red lines for a peace deal – or would he suggest to continue the war till the Russians will accept all European/Ukrainian conditions?
