Long-term US ownership of the Gaza Strip: Trump’s new idea. Indeed, someone has to take over responsibility for the future, for the reconstruction, for the resettlement, for peace. Hamas’ October 7 attack remains unforgivable, as the counter-attack of Israel. Both parties shall not be involved in Gaza, a strong leadership of the US will bring peace. But will it bring stable peace for long? Gaza is a small territory, easy to control. The greatest threat will be terrorism. Palestinians from Gaza, over time, will need to be resettled in Gaza, as they are hardly welcome in other Arab countries. They may find good jobs under US management. But can Gaza become an internationally recognized US territory? Or will half of the World point the finger to an unlawful occupation. There is much work to be done … the simple construction of a beach front holiday resort will not be sufficient.
