SwissInfo reports that Nestlé Waters admitted to “past” practices of water treatment which are said not to ne conform to required standards of “natural water” and announced it would replace carbon filters and UV treatments with a 0.2 micron microfiltration system. The government, informed by Nestlé in 2021, approved the transformation plan in 2023. However, the threshold used sparked debate, as European regulations state that the process should not result in the disinfection of mineral water.”
It appears, therefore, that the French Government was aware that also the modified process of 2021 to 2023 was not conform to the higher European standards for “natural water”.
This concerns the brands Perrier and Vittel, both belonging to the Nestlé Group.
This does not concern the brand Evian which belongs to the Danone Groups.
