The former missionary, who will be known as Pope Leo XIV, has repeatedly criticized the Trump administration’s immigration stance.
The Mail writes: “His last retweet, on April 14, slams the Trump administration’s deportation of undocumented migrant and Maryland father-of-three Kilmar Abrego Garcia, 30, to El Salvador.
The post reads: ‘Do you not see the suffering? Is your conscience not disturbed? How can you stay quiet?’
Pope Leo XIV, 69, also shared several articles that address Catholic JD Vance‘s stance on immigration. One of them is titled: ‘JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others.'”
The now new Pope condemned in strong words Donald Trump’s immigration policy. As a clergy from South America with Peruvian roots, even if born in the US, he better understands the wishes of the Latino countries’ populations to immigrate to the US – of course, mainly for economic reasons.
Let’s wait and see where the new Pope may find other conflicting arguments with Trump. On the gender issue, LGBT etc. the new Pope seems to be moderate and a slight turn-around from his predecessor’s policies is expected.
