Nord Stream 2 Bankruptcy again suspended – Opportunity for US Investors to buy Pipelines?

After the bombings of the pipelines of Nord Stream 2 AG, the Swiss holding asked the Swiss court for a Chapter 11 procedure which suspended the bankruptcy till a solution is found.

It is known that one of the pipelines could be put into operation again, the other pipeline may be repaired.

German news identified a US investor, Stephen Lynch, who declared that buying the pipelines may give the US the unique opportunity to control Russian gas distribution in Europe.

The EU and Germany warned against the reactivation of the Russian pipelines, afraid of becoming again dependent on cheap Russian gas.

Now, the Swiss Court has again prolonged the deadline for this Chapter 11 procedure. The big investors, next to the Russia State, are a consortium of large European energy companies who would not like to lose all their investments amounting to billions of Euros in case of bankruptcy.

For the US, it is a clear advantage. The new Minerals Deal with Ukraine demands that gas pipelines in Ukraine transporting Russian gas shall be put under the control of the US. If the US will control as well Nord Stream, the US can control a big part of the energy distribution to and in Europe from Russia.

Sure, yes, it needs Russian gas ..  and Russia has the smile. No US investor will invest into Nord Stream 2 without the guarantee of Russian gas. The US engagement would be an economic advantage and political protection for Russia, but it needs to be safe and secure also with regard to the conflict in Ukraine to be settled first.
