What a media hype. Democrat opposition and related media erupt over a White House administration memo (from a lawyer, a staffer dealing with budget regulations). The misunderstanding between Dems and their media and Donald Trump is hysterical. Trump’s orders are: Yes, there is a freeze on grants and aid (in particular, international aid). No, there is no freeze on grants and aid for which American recipients have a lawful right (where law gives entitlements). But all remains under review, frozen or not. The NYT understands this well and confirms the situation, ie. that the WH staffer’s memo sounded over-reaching but Trump’s orders were clear, and all respected the law. A lot of buzz about nothing. For a short moment – it is all quiet again, now.
