Reading the text in X in full is self-explanatory and reduces the value of the threat of further sanctions therein.
Donald Trump demands “MAKE A DEAL”. He knows perfectly that a deal needs two sides. Adressing to Russia only may be construed as an invitation to make a deal with the US? Seems as Ukraine shall not be a party of the future deal: Ukraine is NOT mentioned in Trump’s relatively long X message at all.
In additon, he refers to RussiaGate: the HOAX. Indeed, Donald Trump refers to the Obama/Clinton/Biden elites’ coup against him during his presidency – liars who were accusing Trump and Russia falsly of conspiracy and him of treason against the US … but which all was insufficent to create hate againat Russia among Americans.

As well, President Trump reminds the 60Mio of deaths in Russia`s WWII fight against Nazi Germany.
This X message is on the one side Trump`s declaration of sympathy for Russia, on the other side a cry to stop the bloodshed. A demand for a deal. Assorted with a light threat.
Both sides, the US and Russia, want a deal. So there is now the moment to negotiate, like before for the Minsk Agreements or for the Istanbul Agreement, when Russia was negotiating for a deal, even obtained signatures, but the Western Powers did not want the deals agreed. It remains the hope that the Western Powers now really want to make a deal.
If the war pushing media see a strong warning in Trump’s X message then they are wrong. Not only is the public used to much stronger warnings by Trump but the simple threat of further sanctions will not really make the over-sanctioned and well prepared Kremlin afraid. Afraid may be the rest of the World that is dependent on trade with Russia.
