Putin declares 72-hours May Ceasefire in Ukraine to mark WW2 Victory Day over Nazi Germany

Developing story.

The Guardian writes: “The Kremlin said the 72-hour ceasefire would run from the start of 8 May to the end of 10 May, and called on Ukraine to join it as well. “All hostilities will be suspended during this period,” the Kremlin said in a statement. “Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow this example.”

Ukraine can now show if they are for peace or for war, if a ceasefire, even unilaterally declared by Russia, is respected or not.

The Guardian writes further that anonymous “Commentators suggested the offer was a move to avoid the embarrassing spectacle of Ukrainian long-range drones disrupting the Kremlin’s Victory Day parade on Red Square and embarrassing Russia’s president in front of international leaders in Moscow.”

It will be hard to imagine what will be Moscow’s revenge for an attack on the May Victory Parade. And what it means for the real intentions of Ukraine and their backers. Better to have a short ceasefire period during these days to avoid a devastating response from Moscow.

The Guardian terminates its article by confirming that Moscow, during the last unilateral Easter ceasefire, did not attack Ukraine by air or with missiles – of course, The Guarding repeats Selensky’s words that Russia broke its own unilateral ceasefire a thousand times all along the front line – The Guardian just forgets to report that Russia said that Ukraine violated a thousand times the truce along the frontline and was attacking civil areas behind the frontline resulting in deaths and injured.

This being said, it is hard to understand if and how the unilateral Russian Easter ceasfire was broken  .. but it has been confirmed by Ukraine, that Russia did not attack by air. Ukraine may now show a better intent in response to Russia’s unilateral ceasefire of the May holidays.
