Putin-Witkoff meeting was ‘constructive,’ Kremlin says ahead of Trump’s sanctions deadline

According to Russian media “Putin conveyed some signals to the United States on the Ukrainian issue. Corresponding signals were also received from President Trump,” state media outlet RIA Novosti reported, citing the Kremlin,” as reported by CNN.

CNN continues: “The Kremlin said it will release more information on what was discussed after Witkoff reports back to Trump, RIA said in a post on social media.”

The meeting’s outcome, if any, still is kept secret by both sides. The Kremlin’s remark that the meeting was “constructive ” does not say much. It is the same formula used after Russian and Ukrainian delegates met in Istanbul – with no relevant result.

It would be surprising if there was anything more than a friendly meeting.
