The past two nights, Moscow has seen Ukrainian drone attacks and was forced to close Moscow’s airports. According to the Kreml, none of the drones hit a target while collateral damages were minimal.
These drone attacks are intended by Ukraine to already now disturb Russia’s victory parade for the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory over Germany in WWII – to be held on 9 May. A remembrance Day for the 60 million victims of the German war against Russia.
V Selensky has already threatened Moscow with attacks during the parade. None of the Western leaders have criticized Selensky for his threat even when it became clear that the leaders of some important countries will be present at the parade, including President Xi of China. It looks like that Ukraine, with Western blessing, is threatening not only Moscow, but also those leaders attending the parade. An attack on the parade will be considered as equivalent to an attack on those leaders.
Europe and NATO need to pressure Ukraine not to attack the parade and to accept the 3 days ceasefire proposed by President Putin.
It is crazy to risk escalation with attacking Russia and its visitors during the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII.
Russia still is standing behind its ceasefire proposal for the period of 8 to 10 May, covering the parade and the visists of the leaders of many nations to Moscow.
An attack during these 3 days would have devastating consequences, as warned by the Kremlin. It is expected that those leaders which will also consider themselves being attacked will respond likewise.
