President Putin, in a surprise move, orders an unilateral ceasefire over the Easter days, till end of Sunday.
Putin said, he “is guided by humanitarian considerations”.
It is so easy to stop the war, if one really wants. It is not expected that Ukraine will stop attacking and may even misuse Russia’s unilateral ceasefire to gain advantages. If so, Russia will respond accordingly on Monday.
Putin’s move also discredits those who claim that Putin only wants the war and does not consider human life. To stop hostilities one-sided is a considerable risk for Russia and this favor may result in further Russian losses if Ukraine does not respect the Easter recess.
