What was totally sidelined at the 2025 G7 meeting in Canada, last week, was the V Selensky demand that Ukraine’s sponsors shall pay USD 40 billion annually for Ukraine’s budget, i.e. for Ukraine’s current expenses, not for weapons or related costs.
USD 40 billion is needed to keep Ukraine afloat to pay government salaries, pensions, expenses etc. Ukraine’s economy is probably inexistant, or just focused on war and does not allow to collect taxes.
President Trump did not meet Selensky during the G7 meeting. There was no US Ukrainian exchange and Selensky’s demands vanished into the air.
