Selensky calls for more pressure on Russia after ‘massive’ Kyiv attack

V Selensky, at a press conference in South Africa, called for increased pressure on Russia and more sanctions.

According to Selensky, only pressure will force Russia to accept an unconditional ceasefire. Ukraine demands an unconditional ceasefire before it will negotiate a peace agreement, says Selensky. Of course, the ceasefire, as Selensky demands it, will also involve European NATO troops in Ukraine.

The US Administration has recently suggested a framework for a peace agreement with Russia. This US Peace Deal was bluntly rejected by Selensky. Selensky is not willing to allow one single concession to Russia and insists on Ukraine’s victory. Selensky has some European governments on his side.

But Selensky is now moving into a direct confrontation with Donald Trump and the US but blackmailing Trump will be disastrous for him and his country.

The past night has seen terrible attacks on Kiev and on other Ukrainian cities, while Ukraine attacked Crimea with a huge number of drones – the Ukrainian strikes remain easily unreported by The Guardian and similar news outlets.

It is terrible to continue these reciprocal attacks, in particular, as Ukraine cannot match Russia’s strength. Ukraine cannot win this war and a military escalation with more weapons from its European allies will lead to more suffering of the Ukrainian population. The hate between both countries has become unbearable, but Ukraine’s population would certainly even though prefer to renounce to NATO aspirations and return to a pre-war situation even with a bad settlement between the US and Russia.
