Selensky dismisses Sumy Governor responsible for the Military Award Ceremony in Town Center

V Selensky dismissed the Governor of the Sumy region, Artjuch.

The Governor was dismissed after Russian missiles hit the site where a military awards ceremony was held in Sumy’s town center, last Sunday. Various Ukrainian officials confirmed that a military gathering was happening in town on Palm Sunday, Western media cites numbers of sources confirming this.

The military happening was leaked and the Russian Army hit it with two Iskander missiles. Many deaths, also civilians and children resulted thereof.

The Russian Army used Iskander missiles which are expensive, high precision special weapons, as Russians seemingly considered the information about the military event as trustworthy and worth to employ such special missiles.

Immediately after the attack and when Ukraine has seen the terrible high number of casualties, officially 35 deaths and more than 100 injured, Ukrainian officials started to blame the organizers of the military gathering for having called for such a military ceremony in a densely populated town center, just 15 km away from the combat zone.

Officials from the region as well as from Kiev accused the organizers of the military ceremony of endangering and sacrificing civilians’ and children’s lives.

Russia has been condemned by Western countries, not by the US, for the deadly attack but it was widely acknowledged that military operations, such as the military ceremony in Sumy, shall not be deployed in areas with civil populations, as then, per the laws of war, civilians may become targets. An army mingling with civilians or trying to find cover in densely populated areas commits itself a war crime.

As a first reaction and as punishment for organizing the military gathering in the town center, the Governor of Sumy was fired.

Selensky could only acknowledge that a great mistake was made by his Army’s chiefs and that many innocent lives were put at risk.

Donald Trump responded to this incident: “it’s Biden’s War”. Trump also condemned Selensky for the outbreak of the War and its senseless continuation. It has to stop and Ukrainians and their masters must admit that they gambled too high and now have to carry the losses forward.
