Selensky suddenly prepared to cede territory held by Russia

The Telegraph and other newspapers report that “Ukraine could agree to stop fighting and cede territory already held by Russia as part of a European-backed plan for peace.

Volodymyr Zelensky told European leaders that they must reject any settlement proposed by Donald Trump in which Ukraine gives up further territory – but that Russia could be allowed to retain some of the land it has taken.”

Selensky still opposes to a peace that could be agreed between the US and Russia. But Selensky would compromise on territory Russia has already occupied and Selensky, for this purpose, is uniting with European leaders to confront Trump.

The matter, at the end, is not about territory, but that there shall not be any future conflict.

Rest-Ukraine shall never join NATO and the Donbass and Criema, the 4 Oblasts, shall be part of Russia. This shall be confirmed in a peace agreement that must form part of International Law.

Ukraine must hold an urgent referendum on the territorial question. At the same time, presidential elections must be held. If both show a result to confirm peace, then it’s peace.

Selensky, until yesterday, rejected all transfer of land to Russia to find peace. Selensky continued to demand the US and Europe to fight till Russia’s defeat. Suddenly, Selensky changed his official opinion.

Probably under Trump’s pressure and also as Ukraine’s European sponsors have understood that a victory against Russia is impossible, at least without a nuclear war, Selensky and the Europeans accepted the principal of a transfer of territories. It is now up to the parties to make sure that the full peace agreement is firmly enacted and impossible to be misinterpreted.
