Switzerland to suffer under Extreme Housing Shortage

The situation on the housing market in Switzerland becomes dramatic, Blick Newspaper writes.

Immigration, refugees and strict building rules provoke an immense housing shortage. There are not enough units built every year, and prices go through the roof. The housing policy is anti-social and immigration makes lives for locals very difficult. Alone the Ukrainian crisis provoked masses of refugees competing for housing with the Swiss local population, the market further disturbed by generous support payments to the Ukrainian refugees, squeezing out the local population.

There are no ideas or policies yet under preparation to tackle the problem. If Switzerland’s resident population continues to grow, huge new constructions and buildings all over the country are needed to allow this kind of open border policies.
