The Swiss Government declared not to react to Donald Trump’s new tariffs.
Some parts of the Swiss industry are hit by the new tariffs that are higher than the EU’s. Switzerland is slapped with a 31% tariff, the EU with 20%.
The Swiss Government says it understands that the US charges some new tariffs on some countries, but does not understand why Switzerland receives such harsh treatment.
Switzerland does not manipulate its currency and does not disturb the free USD/CHF rate, says the Swiss Government.
It may be expected that Switzerland will try to negotiate the level of the tariff with the US. As well, Switzerland will review how to help the industries specially suffering under the new US tariffs.
