Telegraph: Ukraine ceasefire on brink as EU refuses to lift Russia sanctions

The EU commences a powerplay with Donald Trump.

The US Administration has agreed with Russia about a further partial ceasefire deal: ceasefire in the Black Sea and continuation of Ukraines grain exports in exchange for Russia exports of grain and agricultural products and the lifting of sanctions to allow the trade and the payments.

EU refuses to lift sanctions until the complete surrender of Russia, i.e. the complete retreat from all Ukrainian pre-2014 territory. The UK did not yet give a statement.

The Telegraph reports that “a European Commission spokesman said on Wednesday: “The end of the Russian unprovoked and unjustified aggression in Ukraine and unconditional withdrawal of all Russian military forces from the entire territory of Ukraine would be one of the main preconditions to amend or lift sanctions.”

As well, “For an administration that seems to consider Europe useless and pathetic, they sure need a lot of our help to make a half-baked ‘peace deal’ with the Russians work,” one EU diplomat told the Telegraph.

This a pure confrontation in the public domains against the peace efforts of the US Administration. This will also motivate Ukrainians to obstruct Trumps ceasefire and peace deal.

If the sanctions are not lifted by the EU and UK, the US will not be able to agree with Russia on a partial ceasefire. The EU’s declaration tend to demonstrate the EU’s whish not to find a compromise with Russia and to continue the war.

As earlier declared by Donald Trump, he will be “out” and Europe will be alone facing Russia if a deal is obstructed.
