The Guardian: Don’t mention the war: in Germany, politicians are hiding the truth about Ukraine spending

With a surprising openness, the Guardian, a leftist, war supporting paper, is confessing that German politicians do not tell their voters the truth about the Ukrainian war spending.
Tomorrow are elections in Germany and the politicians are hiding the truth about defense spending, so the Guardian.
“The candidates to lead Germany’s next government are avoiding telling voters painful truths before Sunday’s crucial general election about Russia’s war in Ukraine, the coming disengagement of the US from Europe and the huge defence funding that is needed.” They also do not tell the truth about the trillions needed for Ukraine’s reconstruction, for the millions of additional refugees.
Germany has no solution how to finance it: taxes or debt. Both would be refused by the voters, so better not discuss it.
Nobody wants to get caught speaking the truth before the election. In the worst-case scenario, if Trump pulls off this deal with Putin and carves up Europe into spheres of influence, Germany is very exposed.”
“Neither of the main contenders to run Europe’s largest economy dares tell the domestic electorate just how dire Germany’s security situation is looking, now that Donald Trump is pursuing a quick deal with Vladimir Putin – apparently largely on Moscow’s terms – to stop the fighting in Ukraine and draw down US forces from Europe.”
The Guardian tells us that the German front runner, Friedrich Merz, want more debts and reduce welfare for Ukraine expenses but that he doesn’t tell it before tomorrow’s elections.
“By failing to prepare public opinion for the coming storm, Merz is storing up trouble for himself when the time comes, very soon, to make wrenching choices on public spending and borrowing.” Indeed, Germany will see governmental chaos and is braced for new elections when it comes out that the mainstream politicians did not tell the truth.
