The Guardian: PM Starmer says Putin’s “Yes, but” is not enough. Needs Ceasefire NOW, followed by UK Troops on the Ground and Planes in the Air.

While Russian troops are marching forward, defeating Ukraine step by step, PM Starmer wants a ceasefire now. For sure, Starmer knows that a ceasefire at this moment is not in Russia’s best interest. Even though, President Putin said “yes” and raised some questions and practical issues. Putin would not accept that Ukraine uses the 30 days ceasefire period to re-arm, regroup and get into offensive mood. Probably, this is understandable even for the most fervent defender and supporter of Ukraine.
Another matter seems even more away from reality: why should Putin accept NATO troops on the ground and planes in the air? Wasn’t the conflict about NATO coming to Ukraine? It would probably need winning a nuclear war to bring NATO troops into Ukraine. Just, then there is nothing left to protect, even less NATO troops alive and planes existing to occupy Ukraine. What a day dream. Starmer has, exactly for this project, convened a number of militaries from states forming the “coalition of the willing”. What will they discuss?
