The Guardian reports: “The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Russian attacks across his country continue to be a “daily reality” despite the partial ceasefire agreed to last week. He referenced the overnight drone attack on Kyiv, in which at least 3 people were killed, and a Russian attack on the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia which reportedly killed a family of three late on Friday evening.” The war must stop, a peace must be agreed immediately, the killing must end! But the parties and their allies seemingly do not want “peace at all costs” – Ukraine and its European allies demand for a “Just Peace”. A “Just Peace” or nothing. But what is a “Just Peace”?Russia has not yet outlined all its conditions but has made some basic demands – unchanged since the beginning of the conflict and described as unacceptable for Ukraine and Europe. And since then the Ukrainian and Russian bombardments continue and people and soldiers die on both sides. And so, what is a “Just Peace”? Is it a Peace fulfilling Ukraine’s (and Europe’s) maximalist demands – or is it a Peace fulfilling Russia’s maximalist demands – or is it a compromise which Donald Trump is trying to find? For the moment, it looks like that a compromise which Trump will agree with Russia, under exclusion of Ukraine and Europe, will not be accepted by Ukraine nor by its European partners and Ukraine as well as its European sponsors will continue fighting by all means – to reach what? And what can Donald Trump do? Yes, the US can increase pressure on Russia – by economic means, by military means. During the last three years, neither economic nor military pressure has been successful. Of course, it has become hard for Russia and the question is how long Russia may resist the pressure. But how harmful will be a long Russian resistance to the US and to Trump? … While the US reserves in money and weapons are huge, they are not endless. The Ukrainian war, according to Donald Trump, did cost USD 350 billion and it’s difficult to imagine that the US Congress will make available many further billions for Ukraine, in particular, as Trump promised not to pay more to Ukraine. Trump promised a speedy peace – and a stopping of the killing. What if Ukraine and the Europeans are able to interfere so that Trump cannot fufill his promise? Naturally, Trump will loudly complain about their actions and will simply retreat from Europe, leaving Europe and the Ukrainians alone with their struggle. That’s what Trump already said recently. So, what to do really in view of the difficult situation? Wouldn’t it be better to give Trump full authority to make peace with Russia – like the Obama/Binden gang had full authority to wage war on Russia? Probably, yes. But the Europeans are afraid about who will pay for the costs of all that mess after peace is found. The EU and Germany have decided to raise enormous debts. To be honest – the justification for raising such monster-debt was Putin and the fear of a Russia agression. But this huge debt financing came really handy as Europe and, in particular, Germany are in urgent need of such huge financing – as the German economy is broke and Europe is moving to a financial desaster. So, thanks to Putin and the Europeans’ war propaganda, huge financial flows are about to stream into the pockets of all the European governments and of the EU. Enough reason to keep increasing the pressure on Russia and not to seek for a normalization?
