The Guardian: Ukraine ‘may be Russian someday’, Trump says ahead of Zelenskyy meeting with Vance

Indeed, Donald Trump displays publicly that he is not much interested in the future of Ukraine.
The Project Ukraine launched by his predecessors Obama/Biden together with some European heads of state and the EU is for Trump a closed file. Trump understands that Project Ukraine did not work (since the beginning) and that it would cost too much to continue with no end in sigh and the risk of causing WWIII.
Trump will charge the Europeans with the follow up costs of which he knows they will be tremendous. For good reason Trump demands an upfront security (in form of rare earth deposits) before helping further. Trump demands a USD 500 billion security from Ukraine. Looking into the available deposits, Ukraine can hardly bring such security, over half of the deposits are in Russian lands and the Selensky government has already sold precious deposits to foreign investors or Ukrainian oligarchs. So, not much left.
For the first time, a Western politician gives the outlook that Ukraine may cease to exist as a state. Indeed, a convenient solution for Trump would be the sharing of Ukraine between Western bordering countries and Russia. Poland and Hungary may have a historic interest in parts of Ukraine whereas Russia as well has a historic interest in large parts of Ukraine. Such a solution may appease all foreign states which will share the costs according to the territory they mights claim. The rest of Ukraine may continue to exist as a demilitarised zone and associated to the EU.
