The Guardian: White House security failure prompts calls for resignations. A Signal message exchanged with a journalist prompts anti-Trump propaganda … but was it on purpose?
Signal has transferred information and data about Russia users to the US and Ukraine, cooperating against Russia – and as consequence, Signal was suspended in Russia. Seemingly, Signal was in turn hacked by Russia, trying to access data of Ukrainian and other war actors. Signal is, therefore, not only a easy target for hacking but also co-opertaing with governments and transferring information and data to governments. As well, the CIA can effectively bypass Signal encryption – as well as of WhatsApp, Telegram etc. Certain other Intelligence Agencies can do the same and read the Signal messages as well.
This all is well known by the US Administration, which itself is responsible that Signal and others are no safe messaging tools.
The fact that two government officials communicate on Signal has a purpose. It is a messaging tool not necessary between the two government officials, but with the rest of the World, i.e. other intelligence operators that read their communication as well.
The messages exchanged on this Signal chat – to which an anti-Trump journalist of the Atlantic was invited – have a clear purpose: to fortify the dissemination of their content all over the World and not only with the international intelligence community anyway spying on Signal.
It appears that the Signal chat, as confirmed by US intelligence officials, did not contain any classified information, as per CCN’s article. It contains information about the already earlier this month executed strikes on Huthis in Yemen to which the members to the Chat group congratulated each other. Not particular information that may be even sensitive to national security seemingly was made accessible to the journalist (the well-known anti-Trump editor-in-chief of the Atlantic Goldberg). There are no questions raised in front of the Senate committee if that journalist did not hack himself into that chat.
Bravo – The Guardian and so many other leftist and anti-Trump news outlets have been instrumental for this purpose. Well done.
The US Administration’s opinion of some European governments is now confirmed and well distributed to a wider public. The military scenarios re Yemen are are well received warning for the Houthi Regime and other supporting rogue states and organizations.
While CNN and other leftist anti-Trump news outlets promote the idea of a Congressional oversight investigation into this matter – the House Leader Mike Johnson brushed it off. As well Donald Trump did brush it off quickly. It seems that there is a lot of exaggeration and hysteric opinion about a probably well planned leak to the public. Unless it is true that a staffer accidently included the journalist into the Signal chat – or was it intentional?
Considering the above mentioned security concerns about Signal, any sensible security details should not be discussed on this App. There are sophisticated government communication tools which are used in government business.
