Trump reveals Melania’s key role in dealing with Putin on Ukraine war

FoxNews reports: “President Trump on Monday suggested that first lady Melania Trump convinced him that Russian President Vladimir Putin has continually backed out of his promises over a possible peace deal with Ukraine. ”

“He explained that his wife pointed out Putin’s false promises following Trump’s phone calls with the Russian leader amid calls for a deal to end the conflict. ”

“I go home. I tell the first lady, ‘You know, I spoke to Vladimir today. We had a wonderful conversation.’ She said, ‘Oh, really? another city was just hit,'” Trump said.

President Trump avoided to point to those internal and foreign allies and foes who are threatening and pressuring him. Trump was under immense political pressure to act regarding Ukraine, by internal political allies and enemies as well as by the leaders of European and NATO countries. He was facing an uprising in Congress with a new bipartisan law on Ukraine contradicting his strategy of deescalation. Trump does not want to continue the war in Ukraine and he was very easy to allow a great compromise to Russia to allow for a ceasefire. This compromise was refused by Ukraine and the European NATO countries.

It is now a fine and elegant way to speak about a discussion between husband and wife, talking about some of the husband’s job matters and the wife giving some advice. It is rather a charming way of explaining a political decision process by avoiding conflictual statements towards his basis, to his administration and to political allies and foes.
