Trump rules out sending US troops to Ukraine as part of security guarantees, while Starmer offers air and sea guarantees

Russia previously said that there will be no peace deal if NATO troops will enter Ukraine. Russia calls it a red line. NATO membership is off the table but may be circumventd by equivalent measures.

Donald Trump’s statement not to send US troops into Ukraine is therefore, a reasonable answer to Russia’s red line. It remains to see if European or other NATO countries’ leaders would for their part send troops to Ukraine.

PM Starmer has offered so far air and sea security for Ukraine. How and where this security can be deployed is unclear. This does not seem like an offer for troops on the ground.

Most European countries, including Italy would not send troops to Ukraine.

There appears also no consensus in Germany to send troops to Ukraine. The current coalition is completely divided about this matter.

Would France, after all the vocal support send troops into Ukraine?
