Trump says Selensky ‘pissed away’ Ukraine aid. “Where is all this money going?” Trump asks

Donald Trump, in yesterday’s interview, became angry about the huge amounts of money the US sent to Ukraine. And it seems for Trump that Ukraine did not account correctly for the amounts received.

The question of waste of money has been raised since the early days of Trump’s new term. He and others in politics and media outlined the enormous loss of money and equipment and the mechanics of how Ukraine made purchases and distributions. Many reports showed that the purchase system contains huge commissions, to Ukrainian and US businessmen. Such commissions can reach up to 30%. As well, weapons sent to Ukraine appeared at other places.

Donald Trump may be right to criticize the easy going spending of Ukraine, and the demonstrative position of V Selensky to demand and to continue to demand further money and support even if it becomes very evident that the employment of funds is, at least, not efficient, at worse it is corrupt. Some cases of theft and corruption have come to daylight, but the daring chief officer of Ukraine’s procurement agency was simply dismissed.

Banks around the World see new money inflows, of course, from Ukraine but also from US connected individuals and companies. UBS of Switzerland eg. reported huge new money inflows from the US.

One may reach the conclusion that the best way to secure peace in Ukraine is to break up the inefficient and intransparent procurement system and to introduce controlling agencies and observers on many levels of the process.  As well, judiciary investigations into banks could be launched with the request to identify payments that originated from the US, ie. to identify the US taxpayer money which sits in Switzerland, Monaco or in Dubai. The US Administration has all the means at hand to launch a worldwide enquiry and even to get through Congress a new “Ukraine Transparency Act” which could as well target transactions of the Obama/Biden era.

As soon as war is not ‘easily made money’, the ‘war efforts’ will come down.
