While officials in Kiev say that Ukraine, by its Constitution, will never accept to give up sovereignty over its territories, the Peace Plan of Donald Trump will contain exactly this.
Trump’s Plan will say that Ukraine must concede and that Crimea is now Russian, and that Russia keeps control of the occupied territories in Eastern Ukraine.
This looks like that no solution is possible as Ukraine will not agree.
The other matter is the continuous question of foreign, NATO troops in Ukraine as “resilience force” to protect Ukraine after a ceasefire.
Instead, the US Administration thinks about a peace controlling force under the command of Ukraine, Russia and a non-alligned third country.
The NYPost reports: “Also on the table is a separate peacekeeping force to monitor any cease-fire, which would look like a “joint commission” of Russians, Ukrainians and a third, non-NATO country watching the frontlines to ensure both sides are putting their weapons down.”
European leaders and Ukraine insist on security guarantees in form of European and NATO troops on the ground in Ukraine which they have been preparing since months. This may not be acceptable to Russia and no ceasefire or peace could be agreed under such conditions.
