Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’: Tariffs for the World

Donald Trump has today informed the World on his order to charge tariffs on imports to the US.

A baseline of 10% on all goods, unless otherwise specified.

The UK will be charged only 10%.

The EU will be charged 20%.

All automobile imports to be charged 25%.

India to be charged 26%

Taiwan will be charged 32%.

China to be charged 34%.

Vietnam to be charged 46%

Other countries will be charged reciprocally, or at a level decided from case to case which will be generally half of what such countries charge on US products.

The EU has already announced to retaliate. The UK said to be ready to increase own tariffs on US goods but would wait.

The 25% on all car imports to the US will be an economic hammer on those car industries, in particular, in Europe, specially in Germany.

The US will impose a 25% secondary tariffs on Venezuela, which implies that any third country buying oil from Venezuela will be charged 25% on all goods that the third country sends to the US. Trump has threatened Russia with a similar secondary tariff in case the Ukrainian negotiations will not progress.
