Ukraine allies promise €21bn in military support for Kyiv

The Guardian is celebrating the additional funding for Ukraine of EUR 21 billion.

Germany alone comitted to pay EUR 11 billion, the UK £450 million to continue the war against Russia.

The Guardian brings up the standard propaganda about the conflict in Ukraine: a democratic free country fighting a dictatorial hegemonist. The freedom of the Western civilized World is defended in Ukraine. Russia needs to lose the war which Russia started.

Well, it is tiresome to correct the above and to bring up the facts. The Ukraine conflict’s base is Project Ukraine, i.e. the NATO eastward expansion that was facilitated by a nationalist putsch against a democratically (the election of Yanukovitch was never contested by the West) elected President who preferred Russia and not NATO (2014 Maidan). Under Project Ukraine, from 2014 on, NATO built up the Ukrainian army to the largest in Europe, well equipped and trained by NATO. The Ukrainian war started in 2014 when the eastern Russian speaking provinces fought for autonomy and independence. Since then, the Obama/Biden Administrations and some European countries together with NATO powered up Ukraine to have a highly dangerous army, with CIA stations all over Ukraine, US bio labs and planned missiles positioning on the border of Russia. While the Ukrainian army bombed the towns and cities in East Ukraine killing 20’000 (between 2014-22). Attempts to sign a peace agreement (2014-15 Minsk Agreements) showed to be of no value and fraudulent. The 1st term of the Trump presidency slowed down the conflict in Ukraine (2017- 2020) but it took up full speed with the Biden Adminstration (2020 -2024) resulting in Russia’s small staffed incursion into Ukraine in 2022.

Since 2022, the Ukrainian army is fighting a proxy war mainly for and on behalf of the US (more precisely for the Obama/Biden gang) equipped, guided, financed and commanded by the US, with some European help. In reality, the Ukrainian army became the prolonged military arm of the US Administration, with US and European staff on the ground, with a foreign legion and other NATO soldiers included in the various Ukrainian fighting units.

Russia, so far, has limited its invasion, after an earlier withdrawal from the Kiev region and from two other urban regions, to the Donbass and Crimea. Russia has built strong defense lines which the Ukrainian counter-offensive of 2023 was not able to break. Since 2024, Russia is advancing slowly but steadily and is eliminating also the Ukrainian incursion into the Kursk region.

All participants know that Ukraine’s collapse is only a matter of time. Even the head of the Ukrainian secret services gives Ukraine a maximum survival till summer 2025. With the fading support of the US, the collapse will happen earlier.

Europe is scared of Ukraine’s collapse and the consequences. European leaders have expressed their willingness to support Ukraine also without the US. The Trump Administration wants to terminate the war which was provoked and run by the Obama/Biden Administrations, probably at all costs and at Ukraine’s expense, rapidly with a lasting peace agreement. Trump wants to normalize the relationship with Russia. Europe is interfering in Trump’s push for peace, but knows that it cannot run the war without the US. Even though Europe is drumming up its war preparations with lots of debt money, planning to send troops to Ukraine, but there is no hope that Europe can send a meaningful contingent to Ukraine.

As a consequence, Europe can only collect money for Ukraine which is used to unnecessarily prolong the war. The US want to terminate the war and do not want further expenses. Both Europe and the US know that a further escalation, further pressure on Russia  is not possible without sending own troops to fight in Ukraine – but no Western country wants to fight Russia directly. The populations in the US and Europe have no interest to die for Ukraine. The fate of Ukraine is sealed.

Europe and the US should do all and everything to stop the killing even if it means to withdraw and give up. Project Ukraine was doomed from the beginning – a military conflict with a nuclear power cannot be won.
